  • The ADuM1250 doesn't have any specific I2C aware functionality that would prevent it from being used in a non-I2C application (assuming this application has compatible voltage levels and uses an open-drain/collector driver topology if bi-directional operation is is needed).

    The ADuM1250's SDA and SCL channels are identical and are arbitrarily labeled.  You can swap the SDA and SCL channels with no issue since the ADuM1250 is not I2C aware.

    ps - I don't specifically know the details of your UART application; however, in my experience UARTs are usually followed by a physical transceiver that converts between the logic voltage levels of the UART and the field bus signaling levels used for the communications interface.  It is possible to use the ADuM1250 as an isolator between the UART and the transceiver; however, there are other, likely better options including a standard digital isolator or parts which integrate the isolator and transceiver into one part/package.  There are also options which include an isolated power supply to power the transceiver.
