I am currently seeking information regarding the MAX2990, a power line communication (PLC) modem developed by Maxim Integrated. This device utilizes orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) to facilitate robust data transmission over power lines, operating within the 10kHz to 490kHz frequency range. It integrates both the physical layer (PHY) and media access controller (MAC), featuring an embedded microcontroller with 32kB of password-protected flash memory and 8kB SRAM. The MAX2990 offers effective data rates of up to 100kbps, adhering to various international standards, including CENELEC A, B, and C, FCC, and ARIB.
However, I have learned that the MAX2990 is no longer recommended for new designs, as indicated by the manufacturer. Could you please advise if there are alternative products that offer similar functionalities and can serve as suitable replacements for the MAX2990? Detailed information on potential substitutes, would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your assistance. I look forward to your response.
