 Does the MAX232A have an ESD protection circuit? 
 What is its ESD withstand voltage?

 Thank you for your question! That MAX232A has +/-500V ESD protection (HBM) on all pins. Please see the ESD and Latch-Up Testing section in the Reliability Report here: Microsoft Word - MAX232AESE+.doc (analog.com) .
