ADM3065E-EP operation temperature

Category: Datasheet/Specs
Product Number: ADM3065E-EP, ADM3065E

Above is a screenshot from the ADM3065E-EP datasheet. I would like to get clarification on the operation temperature. If I understand the table correctly, it says even ADM3065E-EP can support VCC from 3.0V to 5.5V but the max temp will vary based on the supply voltage? So if I use 5V on the VCC which means the max temp will then be only 105 degree C?

Thanks

  • Hi HardworkerKevin,

The main point of the table is for running at “max. Data Rate 50 Mbps”. The max. operating temperature is +105C is for Vcc = 5.5V with max. Data Rate 50Mbps. The package needs to dissipate more heat for higher supply voltage. To avoid entering thermal shutdown, the table lists the temperature range for packages vs. supply voltage w. max. Data Rate. ADM3065E-EP is rated -55C to +125C. You can run the part at +125C with Vcc = 5V, just not with max. Data Rate 50Mpbs. If you need to operate at 5.5V with higher temperature rating, ADM3066EBCPZ (10-Lead LSFCSP) has a max. temperature +125C @ Vcc = 5.5V with 50Mbps Data Rate (see below table). Unfortunately, the EP version doesn’t include 10-Lead LSCSP package.
