    What is the allowable voltage range of GPIOs when configured as inputs of this chip, especially Port6 and 7 for rotary switch encoder. Examples use 3.3V as voltage source using mechanical encoders, but can these GPIOs can be used with an optical 5V rotary encoder ?
    

    These can be used up to 14V as open drain outputs, but it is not clear if this is true when they are used as inputs.
