Digital isolator tolerant ADuM1400

Hi All

I have a question about the ADuM1400 digital isolator.

When the power supply is 0V,

If I apply voltage 0-5V to input pin , will it  break because it is over rated?
Or will the input not break due to the tolerant function?

I am concerned that it will break when the power off and there is input from the connector.

    Applying 5V to an input pin would violate the ADuM1400's absolute max ratings (−0.5 V to VDDI + 0.5 V in Table 13).

    The ADuM1400 has ESD protection diodes on all input and output pins. A 5V signal on any of those pins will backfeed to the VDD rail, and may cause unexpected operation. 

    MAX22444 is pin-compatible with the ADuM1400 and has a different ESD structure. That one will not backfeed the VDD rail, so a 5V signal could be applied while the isolator is unpowered.
