LT1039

Hi,

According to LT1039 datasheet for specific pin V+ and V-, I assume these 2 pins are "input" that you can connect to external ±15V (±16V max) power supplies. Am I correct? Many other RS-232 devices have +V and V- pins as "output" only.

Could you please help to confirm these pins V+ and V- are "input only"? I need RS-232 that can fully swing ±15V for my application.

    Hi Inguyen,
    Note that the driver output of this part can be externally forced to ±30V with no damage or excessive current flow, and will not disrupt the supplies. Also, this part doesn’t have a switching power supply, so you can power V+ and V- externally with up to +-15V (abs max rating is +-16V on Driver (V+, V–)), and it will give you around +14.9V to -14V swing on the outputs (typically). Please refer to the table at the bottom of page on the data sheet.
