    Hi
    

    The ADM3058BRIZ is an isolated CAN transceiver and recommends a digital side GND1 and an analog side GND2
    

     If I do not have a requirement to isolate the bus, can I short GND1 and GND2 on my board and supply VDD2 with 5V and VDDD1 with both referenced to the common ground? Will this cause any performance issues or functional issues with this device? I intend to connect the line side of this transceiver on my board to a CAN test equipment such as Vector CAN analyser and never to an actual automotive CAN bus.
    

    I had to select this transceiver as I need a non-isolated CAN FD bus running at 12Mbps and I couldn't find any transceiver other than this family which met the data rate requirement.

      That would mean essentially shorting what is typically one of the more valuable features of the device. It will indeed function just fine as a transceiver, but its no longer useful as an isolator!

        Thank you Jason. I know this is not ideally how I should be using an isolated transciever but i did not find any other transceiver which is non-isolated and supports CAN FD data rate of 12Mbps.

        The ADM3050E/55E/56E/57E/58E all use the same transceiver. Any of those products could be options when only data rate is important. They are the only transceivers on the market that support >8Mbps that I am aware of. ADI doesn't have non-isolated models in the family though. 
        

        Btw, this is off datasheet, so the specification is not guaranteed... but the transceivers can be pushed up to ~15mbps before the bit symmetry gets poor. If this is a test bench rather than a product, it may be interesting to experiment with the higher data rates.
