ESD protection for ADM232A

The ADM232A has 1500V protection to the Human Body Model (HBM) standard on all pins.

The ADM202E is a suitable alternative with 15kV ESD protection on the RS-232 pins, to the system level IEC61000-4-2 standard.

Hi Murali, 

That is correct, the ADM232A would need external protection, whereas the ADM202E does not need any external protection to meet Level 4 IEC-61000-4-2 protection. 

For adding IEC61000-4-2 protection to the ADM232A, something like the SM-15 series of TVS protection components would be suitable, which are available from multiple vendors .
