ADM2867E RS485 Compliant?

Hello;

I plan to use this device into a RS-485 design, but I didn’t see any notice/tips that this IC compatible with TIA/EIA-485-A standard (which is a general standard for RS-485 communication) from its datasheet, would you please help to confirm this?

Is it missing from datasheet?

Many thanks

Bell

  • Hi Bell,

    The ADM2867E is compliant to both TIA/EIA-485 and TIA/EIA-422,  this is an omission from the datasheet and will be added in a subsequent revision of the document,

  • Hi Neil;

    We have another question is that some RS-485 transceiver chip (such as LTM2881-3) can configure the chip into a reduced slew rate mode for reduced EMI(for LTM2881, it can reduce from 20Mbps to 250kbps for low EMI). Does the chip ADM2867E(25Mbps) have this function, if no, what configurations you will recommend for peripheral circuits design?

    thanks;

    Bell

  • Hi Bell,

    Unlike the LTM2881, the ADM2867E family does not feature pin selectable slew rating limiting of the driver outputs. Instead the more traditional approach of using dedicated models for high speed and slow speed is used. Does your application specifically need to be able to switch between high speed mode and slew rate limited mode?

    The ADM2867E (full duplex) and ADM2865E (half duplex) support operation at up to 25 Mbps.

    The ADM2863E (full duplex) and ADM2861E (half duplex) have slew rate limited outputs for low EMI operation up to 500 kbps.

    The ADM2865E, ADM2863E and ADM2861E are pre-release at the moment, you can contact us here to arrange pre-release samples:
