ADuM1400 & ADuM3400 ESD HARDENED

Hi

A customer asks me about the ADuM3400.

The ADuM3400 is said to have better ESD immunity in the system than the ADuM1400.
(By ADuM3400 Datasheet & AN-793)

In the link below, there is no problem with 8kV for contact discharge and 15kV for air discharge,
Is this value mentioned in any document?

I would like to know the reason why the ADuM3400 is stronger against ESD and latchup than the ADuM1400.
(Are you just designing and improving and not specifying the ESD torrerance? Or is the standard of the ESD torrerance cleared is different?)

    Hello Yuya

    The ADuM1400 was intended for use inside a system where the I/O is not exposed to direct ESD strikes.  The ESD protection is geared toward handling in manufacturing, rather than operation in the final application.

    The ADuM3400 series uses the same basic ESD structure internally, but care was take with layouts and bond wires to enhance the tolerance to ESD strikes.  ESD design is heavily dependent on how the protection is implemented in addition to the types of structures used.
