Hi,




How the VDD2 on the side in ADUM4150BRIZ is being used?


Can anyone please give me some insight whether its necessary to use the isolated power supply to the Side 2 (VDD2) of the ADUM4150BRIZ or same supply can be shared between the VDD1 and VDD2 ?


 


Attached image is for reference. Is this setup ok?


Also is it ok leave the unused lowspeed pins floating?




Kindly anyone please help ASAP.

    Hi Nanjunda, 
    

    Its certainly possible to run both sides of the device from the same power supply. The VDD1 and VDD2 supply pins of the ADuM4150 are independent. The primary and secondary sides of the isolator are actually completely separate die. 
    

    But just to be clear, when you have both sides of the device running from the same supply, there is no longer isolation.
