I am designing a product that will require support for Profinet, Modbus TCP, and EtherNet/IP and I would like a recommendation on what AD modules I might be able to use that provide all of these protocols. I have looked over the Industrial Ethernet Platform product pages, and it seems like the RapID platform is what I'm looking for, but it seems that the majority of these products are either obsolete or not recommended for new designs. Is this entire line going extinct, or are there still products that would meet my needs?

1. What are the types of designs that can be done for Industrial Ethernet?

2. I see many references throughout the Engineer Zone Forum to the Developer Portal.

RPG2 (Profinet, EV-RPG2PNZ-U1) test problems

Hi there,

I got an EV-RPG2PNZ-U1 and got some problems during testing.

I followed the instructions of RPG2 PROFINET Quickstart Guide/UG-1850. Used ni-example-app.exe to setup the EVB.
After I typed ni-example-app.exe –l ETH –n {XXXXXXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXXXXXXXXX}, configuration went on but several messages of "FATAL Bad Memory Block" appeared.
Somehow the EVB was set ready after the whole process.
If I enter the command with addition of "\Device\NPF_", the configuration seemed failed.
By the way, I installed the latest package of NPCap.
And I put the error message at the bottom of this thread.
Besides a Siemens PLC that the guide suggests for testing the RPG2 platform, is there any other suggestion?
Like using other analysis or simulation software? E.g. PRONETA by Siemens (https://new.siemens.com/global/en/products/automation/industrial-communication/profinet/proneta.html)

We want to communicate with Ethernet Industrial Protocol Slave Board. The Board also support slave/client for various protocols like EtherCAT Slave, Profinet, Ethernet I/P, Modbus TCP. We have below Queries

1) Is RAPID-NI-V2008 support as a Master controller for EtherCAT and other Ethernet industrial protocol?

2) Is necessary software will be provided by Analog team to use same module for different industrial ethernet protocol like Profinet, Ethernet I/P, Modbus TCP.

SHARC and Profinet communication

How can embedded system based on ADSP213xx (SHARC) can communicate via Profinet?I have designed a Power Transducer Module using such a SHARC DSP and now the customer requires to add the Profinet communication channel (instead of the original serial, RS232 communication). My question is, what other H/W and F/W resources have to be added to the design. If none of the SHARC DSP is "compatible" with the Profinet communication, which alternative Analog Devices processor has to be used? It has to have the digital signal processing capability (like MAC operations).

I am working on Innovasic TSN evaluation kit. I am trying to interface it with Cisco IE4000 switch. I need to enable LLDP on the TSNEK board in order to get it discovered by the switch.

Is it possible to enable LLDP on the TSNEK board?? If yes, please help me with the procedure.

EVAL-RapID-TSNEK(TSN kit) Traffic Scheduling Error

Hi.

I got EVAL-RapID-TSNEK(TSN kit)and test it by getting support from your Quick Start Menual.

But I had problem that I cannot connect to webserver(192.168.1.1) by ethernet port at switch board.

I recognize a reason that I scheduled only Queue 2 at port1, 2 when I test 802.1Qbv(Menu name at webserver : Network Schedule(802.1Qbv)).

So the switch don't receive any Best Effort and I can't connect to webserver by any ports.(port1, 2 at switch board with fido1100 are blocked.)

Could you let me know what I can do?

If any method has nothing, I'd like to do factory reset TSN gateway.

RapID Platform has many obsolete components

Hi,

I'm planning to use RapID Platform in my products, but I found that the FIDO1100 is "Not recommended for new projects" and the FIDO5000 (that is used in the devkit) is not anymore available.

Now I'm a bit confused: all the reference electrical schemas are useless beacause I have to buy FIDO5100 or FIDO5200 and also all the firmwares will not work.

So, integrating the RapID Platform in my boards will not be easy if you don't upgrade all the schemas and all the firmware.

Please let me know if ADI has planned to maintain this platform or not.

Support needed for RAPID-NI-V2009

Hi:

I am customer from China. We had purchased the RAPID-NI-V2009, based on which we are studying to integrate the Ethernet/IP capability into our product.

Currently we are facing some issue to bring the module to RUN state, even though we follow the quick-start guide.

We had tried to contact China local ADI support for a while (days) but there is no effective suggestion/solution can be proposed.

So I had to post the request here to seek for more professional support.

Attached is the screenshot showing the module working with NI_TEST_IO.exe host program. Everything goes fine until it reaches the step of "Ethernet Link UP" event.

The module just stuck at PEND state and never move forward. By the quickstart guide, it should enter RUN state and report the basic info, IP, MAC, etc.

Could someone help to look into the issue and advise me?

Can the REM switch use on Ethernet/IP DLR?

Hi:

I am evaluating to use the Rapid with REMS platform as embedded solution to integrate into existing DeviceNet slave product to enable the Ethernet/IP capability.

After reading thru integration guide and the Rapid software code, I see the solution provides interface for host processor to read/write I/O data (Class 1 connection) but not for explicit message (Class 3 connection) .

So the question is how the host processor can handle explicit messaging thru the Rapid platform?
