Hello,

In order to save part number and to avoid design complexity I want to use an ADIN2111 as a controller instead of ADIN1100 to command multiple ADIN2111 that are placed in a daisy-chain configuration.
I imagine to do that by just connecting PORT 2 and making PORT 1 to be open circuit.
I read in datasheet (p.14 ) that it is possible to configure ADIN2111 as „Store and forward (to or from the SPI host)“
(The datasheet P.41) tells us that in Transmission-mode the destination Port (1 or 2) also can be determined by bit D0 inside the Frame Header.

Can you please justify that I’m correct about this fact or not?

    Sure, you can leave port 1 open circuit and on top of that you can also set port 1 in software power down mode to save power and avoid the port attempting to connect when there is nothing connected to it.
    And yes, D0 bit in the Frame header can be used to determine the port.

    Alternatively, you could consider using the ADIN1110 instead of the ADIN2111. The ADIN1110 is a MACPHY that also uses SPI to communicate to the host MCU.
