Corrupted IEC6150 Sampled Values

Category: Software
Product Number: ADIN6310
Software Version: ADIN6310EVKSW-Rel6.0.1

I'm experimenting with the evaluation board of adin6310 (eval-adin6310) and trying to get Sampled Values traffic through the switch. I have configured all ports as access ports and part of the same vlan.
I'm sending SV traffic to one port and receiving it on another. A wireshark capture on the receiving port reveals malformatted packets as the screenshot shows. The bytes 22-23 holding tag and length are set to zero. The issue is present if the switch is configured to the cut-through mode. If I clear "Cut-Through Allowed" checkboxes in "Scheduled Traffic->Schedule", then the traffic passes unaltered. Is there a configuration option I should tweak to get SV traffic through correctly in the cut-through mode?

Thread Notes

  • Hi Joonas,

Thank you for writing to us.

We validated SV transmission using a Scapy-based publisher and verified the generated frames in Wireshark. The frames are decoded correctly as IEC 61850 Sampled Values in the setup where all the ports are configured as Access Port with VLAN id as 10, with valid EtherType (0x88BA), APPID, APDU structure, SVID, ASN.1 BER encoding. We did not observe any malformed-frame or protocol decode errors during our testing.

To help us reproduce the issue, could you provide:

    • A Wireshark capture (.pcap) from the failing setup
    • The expected SV configuration:
      • APPID
      • VLAN ID / Priority
      • Multicast MAC address
      • svID
      • Dataset configuration

If possible, please share a packet capture containing both a working SV stream and the failing SV stream so we can compare them field by field. Following the screenshot of the working setup:

    Best Regards,
    Himanshu

  • Which one did you use, cut-through or store-and-forward? Can you provide the xml of your switch configuration?

  • Hi Joonas,

I tested the setup using the default switch configuration, with all ports configured as access ports and assigned to VLAN ID 10.

Could you please share a Wireshark capture of the traffic? This will help us analyze the issue in more detail and better understand the observed behavior.

    Best regards,
    Himanshu
