The last two resistors (each 2R) are in parallel, thus can be replaced by R. this is in series with the horizontal R, creating 2R,
which is in parallel to the 2R of cell n-1. So in the limit we have a resistance of 2R, regardless of the number of cells.

Right DigitalGuy ! It is in fact the famous R-2R ladder used in many DACs. The amazing characteristic is the length the chain can be infinite and the equivalent resistance remains identical!
