Operating the LT6106 above 36V

Thread Summary

The user asked if the LT6106 can be used to monitor a 40V supply line, given its 2.7V to 36V operating supply range and 44V absolute maximum. The final answer clarified that the LT6106 cannot be powered from a 40V rail but can tolerate 40V on the monitored line within the common-mode range. The user decided to use the LTC6101 as a direct replacement.

I was using the LT6106 to monitor the current on a 32V supply line in my design (V+ is also connected to this line).  But my application now requires this supply line to increase to 40V.  The LT6106 data sheet states that the supply range is up to 36V, but with a 44V absolute maximum.  And in the description, it specifies a "wide 2.7V to 44V input voltage range".  Can I still use this current sense amplifier for my application? Just not sure, because it seems that two input ranges are given in the data sheet.
