In the ADI EngineerZone, there seem to be two 'areas' where one can find questions and answers about LTspice.
One is called "LTspice" and it is where you end up when you click the link for "LTspice EngineerZone Forum" on Analog Devices's main LTspice webpage (https://www.analog.com/en/resources/design-tools-and-calculators/ltspice-simulator.html). Scrolling past the "Welcome to LTspice" stuff near the top, one reaches the list of threads with a choice between "All Threads" and "Answered Threads", and "All Threads" is the default choice. It lists several threads below that, with arrows to get to more pages with more questions and answers.
The second area is "LTspice > Q&A" and it is slightly harder to reach. To get there, first click on any thread in the list, then look for the "LTspice > Q&A" label in a large blue font near the top of the page, and click on "Q&A". This brings you to the "LTspice > Q&A" page, which at first looks like it's another version of the "LTspice" area.
But it isn't.
In particular, some of the threads that are present on the "LTspice > Q&A" page are missing from the "LTspice" page, even though it claims to be "All Threads". Apparently "all threads" does not mean all threads.
Why would some threads be missing from "All Threads? Why are some threads in one area but not in the other area, where they both discuss the same thing? Is there a reason for doing that? Is there any purpose to NOT have all threads where it says "All Threads"?
Thanks,
Andy
Hey AndyI ,
There is one LTspice group on EngineerZone (https://ez.analog.com/design-tools-and-calculators/ltspice/). This is the Group landing page that shows a subset of forum threads, as well as other LTspice resources such as download locations, FAQs, and helpful links. The subset of forum threads shown on this page are retrieved from the LTspice Q&A. (LTspice ). The Q&A link is the LTspice Forum. This shows All Forum Threads sorted by last reply Date descending by default.
All recent threads are displaying on All Threads and nothing is being filtered out. If things are out of order, it is most likley just due to server side caching. There is no filtering being done on either location.
Sorry, but I find it troubling and buggy. When it says "All Threads", it should be ALL threads, but it is not. For whatever reason, some of the threads are being filtered out.
If there is a sort problem due to server caching, how many days does one need to wait for them to get through the cache? One? Two? Five? I don't think that is right.
Andy
AndyL ,
Our cache lifetime varies. The "All Threads" view on the LTspice homepage sorts threads by Date Created, whereas the LTspice Q&A default sorts threads by last reply date. You are able to update this sort to "Thread Date" and will see it directly matches the sort of the LTspice homepage.
I find it troubling that the default sort order differs between the "LTspice homepage" and the "LTspice Q&A" page. This makes it appear that the former one omits Threads.
Also it makes it nearly impossible to find older threads with recent activity on that page. If a thread was created two years ago but was last updated two hours ago, it should be easily seen, but you would never find it on the "LTspice homepage" because it would be buried waaay down the list.
Could the 'powers that be' be convinced to change the default sort order of the "LTspice homepage" so that it agrees with the "Q&A" page? They ought to be consistent with one another. Making the default be the "last reply date" makes the most sense to me.because it shows recent activity near the top, where it belongs.
Even just adding a way to change the sort order on the "LTspice homepage" helps, but only a little. But I want to emphasize again that I think the default sort should change, to put recent activity near the top where it can be found.
Andy
I agree this can be confusing. I will present your feedback to the team and see what we can do. Recent activity should be prioritized to the top so it can be seen.
