How to use mentions
Using the @ symbol, you can create a link from a username or group name inside a post, comment or reply. The mention will alert users or group members that they've been added to your content and your attention is required. Note that mentioning is optional.
Mention a user
- In a comment, new post, post comment, or forum thread/reply, type the username, starting with @, in the post window. A drop-down list of possible matches appears.
- Select the correct choice from the drop-down list. After you make your selection, the username name has a blue box around it and the @ symbol is gone.
- Hit Enter, or click Share or Post as appropriate to the place where you're mentioning.
Mention a group
- In a comment, application post, post comment, or forum thread/reply, type the group name, starting with @, in the post window. A drop-down list of possible matches appears.
Select the correct choice from the drop-down list. After you make a selection, the group name has a blue box around it and the @ symbol is gone. - Hit Enter, or click Share or Post as appropriate to the place where you're using the @mention.
Mention a piece of content
- In a comment, application post, post comment, or forum thread/reply, type the content title, starting with @, in the post window. Click on the "Content" tab and select the correct choice from the drop-down list. After you make a selection, the content will have a gray box around it.
- Hit Enter, or click Share or Post as appropriate to the place where you're using the @mention.
