Connecting AD-FMCOMMS3-EBZ to IIO Oscilloscope using KC705 Carrier Board

Category: Hardware
Product Number: AD-FMCOMMS3-EBZ

Hi,
I am new to Linux and FPGA boards and am trying to use the AD-FMCOMMS3-EBZ on a KC705 Carrier Board. The overall goal is to play around with the IIO Oscilloscope waveform generation and understand the functionality of the AD9361 better.

I have followed the Microblaze Quick Start Guide closely, but I am having issues with the IIO Oscilloscope. I have downloaded the current .bit file and Linux ELF image and used a XSDB command line to upload them to the KC705. My command line outputs match the guide. I am using PuTTY for my serial connection and I am able to successfully login to the Buildroot user. I am unable to see anything displayed on the KC705's LCD screen. I have downloaded the latest version of IIO Oscilloscope for windows, but I can't connect to the device using the Serial Context. I have confirmed that I am using the correct COM port and Baud rate but am receiving the following error:

My questions are:
1) What am I doing incorrectly in my setup that I am unable to connect the board via COM port to the windows IIO Oscilloscope application?

2) Although I don't believe I need remote access at this point in the project, why am I not seeing an IP displayed on the LCD after connecting through serial successfully? (Ethernet cable also connected if that makes any difference)

Edit:
while grabbing screenshots for this I get "Could not get IIO Context: Input/Output error..." when I have the PuTTY console open. When I close PuTTY I get "Could not get IIO Context: Invalid argument....".

I would greatly appreciate any insights. Thanks!
