External booting from ADRV9361-Z7035

Category: Hardware
Product Number: ADRV9361-Z7035

We have a problem with external booting the ADRV9361-Z7035 , We cannot boot. We follow the Switch setting for external boot but it didn't help.
Is there a recommendation on what type of micro SD to use? Are there other recommendations?
We use a SAN DISK micro SD card, type "EXTREME PRO-SDSQXCY-064G-GN6MA" and as mentioned, can boot only when it is inserted in the SOM SD card socket.

  • Hi Andrei,

    Thank you for your reply.

We are using the ADRV9361-Z7035, (SOM), rev f2 connected to our own carrier in our system. This carrier has a Micro SD card socket to be able to boot the SOM with the external card after setting the SOM S1 to an external card.

Regarding S3, S4, and S1 settings; we are able to boot when the SD card is on the SOM, but not from the carrier. so, we assume that these settings are OK.

The report from the serial port is that Uboot is OK while the RAM boot fails.

The schematic of the SD card on our carrier is using the CM1624 EMI filter and line termination.

All the trace from the JX3 SOM connector to the external SD card socket on the carrier is about 3.3 inches long and they match to about +- 10 mils.

Include the schematic we implement on the carrier board.

Are you aware of a special card type we should use?

  • Hi,

The report from the serial port is that Uboot is OK while the RAM boot fails.

Have you probed de VCC on the SD card ?

    Our suggestions, if possible, are:

    1. Test your SD card with the reference design carrier

    2. Test with another card 16G or 32G

    3. Double check if the filter is mounted in the right position

    4. Double check if the SD card lines are routed to the right pins

    5. Remove the filter
