AD9082 FMCA EBZ external clock

Category: Hardware

Hi,

I have an AD9082 FMCA EBZ evaluation board driven by a Xilinx ZCU102 FPGA board.

I'm just wondering how it's possible to feed the board with an external clock.

The clock architecture in Figure 14 of the user guide suggests using EXT_CLK and EXT_SYS connectors to feed the chip itself.

But then how to feed the FPGA board with the related external clock?

Of course, I can use other FPGA pins (from the other FMC for example) to get MGT clocks from an external source, but my concern is that those clocks are not in the same bank as the AD9082 JESD pins are connected to.

Does it make a problem?

  • Hi Filip, I'm not sure if I got your point.

Let me put my question this way. Suppose that we don't want to use the on-board clock generator ( MC7044). Then we have to feed the MxFE by the EXT_CLK and EXT_SYS. There are other clocks which have to go to the FPGA. Is it possible to use other FPGA MGT clocks (from different bank) rather than the ones which are connected to the FMC of the evaluation board?
