KWH energy reading reading more than KVAH

Thread Summary

The user is experiencing a mismatch between KWH and KVAH readings on the ADE9000 metering IC, even after calibration, especially during power cycle tests. The final answer suggests verifying the correctness of IRMS and VRMS calibration, as KVA is dependent on these values. The user waits approximately 1 second between power-on and reading the KVAH and KWH registers.

Hi, I’m using the ADE9000 metering IC in my product. I read phase wise energy registers AWATTHR_HI, BWATTHR_HI, CWATTHR_HI, AVARHR_HI, BVARHR_HI, CVARHR_HI, AVAHR_HI, BVAHR_HI, and CVAHR_HI in the same sequence inside the ISR whenever an EGY_READY interrupt occurs.

The EGY_TIME is configured for 999 samples. My ideal input load is 63.5 V, 5 A at UPF. While the measured power values are correct, I am observing a mismatch between KWH and KVAH in the energy (KWH > KVAH).

The behavior is frequent when switching test is done (power cycle is given continuously at an interval of 30sec). Note: The device is calibrated.
