Connect Battery to RTC in MAX31343

Goal: RTC can work 24 hours and record power quality events occur time

 

Problem Description:

  1. From MAX31343 Datasheet and Product Info | Analog Devices, in my understanding, there’s an RTC in the MAX31343.
  2. If there’s a power supply/battery connected to Vcc and VBAT pins, does RTC can run for 24 hours?
  3. If the answer to question 2 is yes, how to connect the power supply/battery in AD-PQMON-SL?
    • Because it seems like been blocked by the Daughter Board Expansion

 

Troubleshooting steps were taken by myself:

  • From MAX31343 Pin Configuration, Vcc and VBAT are the power supply pins of MAX31343. B
  • But I’m not sure that these pins have been used for other components in AD-PQMON-SL.

  •  The RTC can be connected to the battery. You can take a look at the design support files. On page 5 from the schematic file, you can see that BT1 is connected to the RTC. If you look in the BOM file you have there a recommended component "MS621FE". You need to install that one or an alternative on the main board. To do that you have to unscrew the daughter board from the standoffs and disconnect it from the connector. After installing the battery, you can install the daughter board back to its place.
