Video Capture: adi_dev_Video_Open failed error

We have a ADZS-BF707-BLIP2 board to demonstrate VOS functionality but there is an error occurring with it and I cannot obtain any image in any of three different computers I tested it, although it has worked before.

The returning error is ‘ERROR: Video Capture: adi_dev_Video_Open failed’ as in the attached compacted image. This message occurs no matter the chosen sensor (omnivision or Aptina) nor the flashed application (VOS indoor or VOS outdoor), always using the GUI application.

What could I try to put this board back to work?

  • I have tested on version 1.0.2 over Windows 7 Professional SP1 in one PC and also with version 1.0.1 over Virtual Machine running Windows XP, both presented the same error message.

  • Hi,

Thanks for checking this. Can you please try running the BLIP board Board Support Post POST example. You can download the BSP package from http://www.analog.com/blip. The readme will help you setup and run this project. This will help us figure out if there is any issue with the current board you are using.

    Regards,

    Neeraj

  • Hi Neeraj,

I've run POST example on my BLIP2 and got the same error message, as below. Other tests as DDR test worked fine.

Is my board broken or could it be a configuration/library issue? Board revision is BLIP2 REV 1.1 .

    Regards.

    ERROR: Video Capture: adi_dev_Video_Open failed

  • Hi,

I am afraid this looks like an issue with the BLIP board hardware. However just to ensure that the library was not modified can you run a fresh install of the BSP package and then try running IOS/VOS and see if this issue is replicable?

Were you running with an emulator or through Flash earlier?. Can you try writing the latest dxe from AdVision Sensor 1.0.2 to flash to see if you still get this error?. The Users Guide will have instructions on writing the dxe to flash.

  • Hi,

I've installed BSP again and error persists. Even with another example, FrameCapture_ClassDriver_OV7692, it got an error when executing 'adi_dev_Video_Open' function.

One thing I noticed, but it doesn't seem to be related to this problem, are some warnings during loading the firmware through CCES and emulator, as copied below. I've already tried emulator and Flash runs.

  • Hi,

I am afraid it is an issue with the BLIP hardware for sure then.

The error regarding DMC0_PHY_CTL1 is seen due to the BSP being released for an earlier version of CCES. Hence when you run with the latest version of CCES, the register are getting redefined. However this will not affect the running of the executable.
