Q
Regarding the Blackfin processors, could you indicate the degradation inperformance resulting from a DSP programme, whose size exceeds the available
internal code memory space, not being completely loaded for execution (extra
delay due to external memory access time).
A
It is very difficult for us to be able to provide you with a precise answer tothis. Performance will obviously be not as good when executing from external
memory, but as to how much it will degradate, it really depends on the program
flow, type of code, etc. Attached we send you a couple of slides explaining
some of the memory considerations that need to be taken into account when using
external memory. Hopefully, this will give you a feeling about performance
difference between internal and external memory.
