Question
We're currently laying out a prototype PCB to take an ADSP-TS203 TigerSHARC
Processor (i.e. with only a 32 bit cluster bus and 2 link ports). Could we fit
an ADSP-TS201/2 to this board if we constrict external bus access to 32 bits
and only use 2 link ports?
Answer
If a PCB is wired for the ADSP-TS203 processors, then it would be possible to
place an ADSP-TS202 or ADSP-TS201 device on board, however you would still only
have the two link ports, and you would still only have a 32-bit external bus.
By placing the ADSP-TS201/2, you would significantly increase the amount of
available on chip memory and also gain the CLU block. However this would need
to be the 500MHz speed grade of the ADSP-TS201 and not the 600MHz speed grade
as this requires different power circuitry.
