Q:
I’ve just installed a full license or evaluation license and now I get a message telling me that the license will expire in X days. I thought these were permanent licenses?
------------------------------------
A:
With a Full license you will be given a 30 day period to apply a validation code. If you do not apply a validation code within this timeframe then VisualDSP++ will cease to operate until a validation code has been applied. Once you have applied a validation code you will be entitled to Simulator, Emulator and EZ-Kit sessions.
If you are working with an Evaluation license then you will be given a 10 day period to apply a validation code. Much like the Full license, if you do not apply a validation code within this time frame VisualDSP++ will cease to operate until you apply a validation code. Once the validation code has been entered you will be entitled to 90 days of Simulator, Emulator and EZ-Kit sessions before becoming restricted to only EZ-Kit sessions.
To receive a validation code for either a Full license or an Evaluation license, you must register your details at out registration web page.
When registering the serial number and host ID, two validation codes will be e-mailed to you. One is valid for VisualDSP++ 4.5 and earlier versions, and the other is valid for VisualDSP++ 5.0 and later versions. Please only use the validation code which is applicable to the version of tools you are using.
Our Licensing Guide contains information on how to apply a license number and a validation code. If you have VisualDSP++ 5.0 installed you can find our Licensing Guide, which is also available through the Help here:
