Question:
I recently received my ADSP-21489 EZ-Kit (EVAL-21489-EZLITE Evaluation Board | Analog Devices) and have been trying to run the example programs included with Visual DSP++. I have successfully installed Visual DSP++ and entered the license included with the EZ-Kit, I then succeed in making a session, however when I try to activate the session and connect to the board I get the following error:
An error has occurred while trying to connect to the target. Please verify that the target components have been properly installed and, if trying to connect to physical hardware, that the appropriate target connections have been made.
Error code: 0x80048008
Error description: JTAG communications scan error
Target: Sharc Emulators/EZ-Kit Lites
Session: ADSP-21489 EZ-Kit Lite via Debug Agent
Platform: ADSP-21489 EZ-Kit Lite via Debug Agent
Processor: ADSP-21489
Is there anything you can point to that may be causing this issue?

Answer:
The 0x80048008 error message can occur for a variety of reasons and the problem can lie with either the emulator or the target board.
Connection problems can also be caused by a corrupt session. Please try recreating your session on VisualDSP++ start up by pressing and holding the 'CTRL' key on your keyboard. After a short while the 'Session List' window will appear. Select New Session. In VisualDSP++ the 'Session Wizard' will open. Select the Processor Family, Processor, Connection Type and Platform. When recreating an existing session the session name will be appended with a number, as you can see in the 'Select Platform' screen. Remove this number and click finish. You will be prompted to replace your existing session. Select yes, then connect to this session by hitting 'Activate'.
Can you run the ICE test by following the procedure given in the EE-175? Are there any other emulators that can connect to your board without any problems?
