Program Flash without VisualDSP++

We have a design group in another city that is developing firmware for a BF527 using VisualDSP++. At our location where we do board and system testing, we have an ICE100B JTAG Emulator and have been using a demo version of VisualDSP++ to program the flash. The demo version is getting to the end of the demo period and we can't justify $4000 to buy VisualDSP++ to simply program a flash.

As we only use the flash programmer out of VisualDSP++ and not the development environment, is it possible to buy only the flash programming software, or is there another program or another way to just program flash?

  • Hi Pesiw,

    There is a way to flash your target boards without needing to install any license. VisualDSP++ 5.0 includes a Standalone Flash Programmer (SAFP) utility which provides flash programming support between the development/prototype stage and early pre-production runs. It is accessible through the VisualDSP++ Automation Interface.

    Please note that, while you do not need to apply a license in order to use the SAFP, a full install of the VisualDSP++ tools is required. The SAFP was introduced in VisualDSP++ 5.0.

    You will find information on the Stand Alone Flash Programmer in HELP under:

    'Help'->'Contents'->'Emulation Tools'->'Stand-Alone Flash Programmer'.

    Regards,
