Example programs missing

Good day,

I'm currently working on the BF548 EZ-kit board and am reading the getting started manual(attached). Now I'm just a student so I don't have full control on the installation of the program but when reading the manual I've noticed that all the example programs are missing at the directory (C:\Program Files (x86)\Analog Devices\VisualDSP 5.0\Blackfin\Examples\ADSP-BF548 EZ-KIT Lite\).

I've asked our IT department about it and told me nothing is wrong and I need those example programs to actually practice with the ADSP-BF548 EZ-kit board.

So is there a way to get the example programs that were listed in the manual?

    Hi,

The Getting Started examples were not available in the base release of VisualDSP++ 5.0 - they were added at a later date. I recommend downloading and installing the latest version of the VisualDSP++ tools, VisualDSP++ 5.1.1, from the link below.

    Hi,

The file "libftl548y.dlb" is the Flash Translation Layer for accessing NAND flash on the BF548 EZ-KIT Lite. Again, this wasn't present in the base release of VisualDSP++ 5.0, but is available in the later release that you appear to have installed on your laptop. The file can be found at "...\Blackfin\lib\bf542_rev_any\" within the later releases.

It may be a bit of a hack to try and get these examples to build in the older tools, and the correct operation cannot be guaranteed - for example, replacing the codec drivers is one step, however the codec drivers are typically built on top of a SPORT driver. If there have been significant changes to the SPORT driver between the base release and the latest release, those new codec drivers may be relying on behaviour that is not true for the older SPORT driver.

For now you will need to add the missing library to a 'Library Search Path'. You should be able to copy the DLB file into your project and it should be detected by the linker. If not, you will need to specify a path to the DLB file via Project: Project Options: Link: General: Search Directories.

    Regards,

    Craig.

  • Thanks. I managed to get the program examples. It's working on my personal laptop but I need an evaluation license to actually use the board so I'm stuck with the uni computers which have full licenses

. I tried running the example programs with the visualDSP 5.00 on the school computers but found out it had incomplete codecs and so I took the audio codecs from the newer version of visualDSP that is installed on my personal laptop.

Everytime I tried to build the program I keep getting this error:

    ----------------Configuration: Example_4 - Debug----------------

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Analog Devices\VisualDSP 5.0\gmake-378: *** No rule to make target `libftl548y.dlb', needed by `Debug/Example_4.dxe'.  Stop.

    No valid command(s) to build.

    Build was unsuccessful.

The thing is I'm not an administrator for the computers so I can't just put the codecs into the directory without the admin password so I'm currently stuck here and unable to run the fouth example program
