Help, VDSP5.12 failed to initialize ICE-1000 while CCES could ,out of solutions now

Hi, guys!  Help needed pls.

My VDSP5.12 failed to initialize ICE-1000 while CCES could, and the images are attached below.

    ICE-1000_Results.rar

I'v already tried these but failed:

1.Same 'VisualDSP++ 5.1.2.exe' installed on my friend's PC, and it worked ok.

2.I'v tried reinstall EMU Driver and 'VisualDSP++ 5.1.2.exe' while anti-virus softwares were all shut down.

3. set to FILE route to another simple one, and it's still not working good.

My PC system is win7 64bit Ultimate . Does anyone ever have met this condition?   I'am out of solutions now... =_=!

  • Hi,

Please note that , if "Opening Emulator Interface" test fails, the most common cause is that the emulator driver is not installed properly.

Please check that the emulator is installed properly by checking your computers 'Device Manager'. You should find your emulator listed under 'ADI Development Tools' . If listed, double-click on your emulator to show the driver properties and ensure there are no issues listed. If there are please take a note of them along with the driver version number installed and send these details to us.

If your emulator is not listed or you are having problems with the drivers, you should try reinstalling the drivers. The driver file for the ICE-1000/2000 emulators is "adiusb50.inf" may be found in the 'Emu_Drivers' directory in the top directory of the VisualDSP++ installation. By default this is located at the following path:
    <install_dir>\Setup\Emu_Drivers

Please refer "Installing drivers manually" in Emulator and Evaluation Hardware Troubleshooting Guide:
    www.analog.com/.../EE-175.pdf

If you are still facing the issue please let us know whether you are using custom board or Ez-kit lite. If you’re using a custom board can you please confirm that it complies with the JTAG Technical Reference Guide EE-68, which is available online at the following location:
    http://www.analog.com/ee68.

Also, can you please answer the following questions to confirm whether the emulator is faulty:

Do you have any other emulators of the same type, which operates correctly with the same target board and PC?

Do you have another target board you can use to connect to your emulator? Do the emulator still behave the same way? Do you still encounter the same error messages?

Share us the screenshot of the device manager window which shows the ICE-1000 emulator.

  • Hi! Thank your for helping!

For your questions, I conclude them these:

    1. Now I have 3 emulators at hands to try(2 borrowed from my friends). All of them can Operates correctly with the same target board and PC in 'CrossCore Embedded Studio 2.8.3', and without target board they can all be correctly opened in ICE Test.

2.Only ICE-100B can operate correctly in VDSP5.1.2 , two ICE-1000 can't be opened in the first step of ICE Test with or without target board.

3.I have reinstalled the required driver from CCES folders and the VDSP5.1.2 folders manuually, including adiusb50.inf, and the results were the same .

4.I have tried the 3 emulators at my working PC in company which is a win7 32bit system, all of them can work correctly in VDSP5.1.2.

As CCES can work correctly , I think the emulator's driver is fine, and possibly it is a soft problem between VDSP5.1.2 and my win7 64bit sys. I have reinstalled VDSP without anti virus soft ,but still did't solve the problem.

    Regards,

    Tony.

  • Hi,

Can you please try with installing the attached driver. Please follow these steps to install the new drivers and let us know how you gets on.

    1. Please uninstall the existing ICE-1000 Emulator by right-clicking on it in Device Manager and choose “uninstall”.
    2. First backup the existing files, then unzip and drop these two attached files into your <install_dir>\Setup\Emu_Drivers
    3. Plug in your USB cable to the board.
    4. When attempting to install or update the drivers tell Windows you want to browse the computer.
    5. Point to the folder with the new files.
    6. Windows should install the new drivers files successfully.

If you are still facing the issue, please share us the complete screenshot of the system information of your machine. This can be done by pressing Windows+R to open the Run box. Type “msinfo32” into the “Open” field, and then hit Enter.

  • Hi

I tried this new driver, and it is still not working good.  VDSP can't find ICE1000 while CCES can. Here is the system information screenshot.(pictures need to be clicked to view this time, I don't know why =.=)

Mybe the session configurators of VDSP and CCES are some how different.

  • Hi,

If the ICE test passes with one PC and not in another PC might be problem in your USB port. Please check your USB port.

Please check that you are connecting to the ICE-1000 via a USB port native to your PC if you are using a USB hub, can you try connecting the USB cable from the ICE-1000 directly to the PC. If you are connecting directly to a USB port then try connecting to a different USB port. If you saw the issue when using the USB 3.0 ports, please try the USB 2.0 ports to see if it will work for you.

Also please refer "Configuring Operating Voltage of the JTAG/SWD Interface on an ICE-1000" about jumper settings in ICE-1000 User guide.
    www.analog.com/.../ICE_emu_1000_2000_rev_manual.pdf

If still you are facing any issues, can you please share the system details for working and not working PC. This can be done by pressing Windows+R to open the Run box. Type “msinfo32” into the “Open” field, and then hit Enter.

Please provide the following windows log files related to device drivers to debug this issue further.
    (i) C:\Windows\inf\setupapi.app.log
    (ii) C:\Windows\inf\setupapi.dev.log

  • Hello,

    Hope you are fine now.

Please try taking the libusb-1.0.dll from the ..\CrossCore Embedded Studio 2.x.x\System folder and replace the one in the ..\ Analog Devices\VisualDSP 5.1.2\System folder. You should rename the one in the VDSP 5.1.2 folder first in case you need to go back to it for any reason. We have had some USB host controllers that have had issues and we have had to work around them but those workarounds are only in the latest CCES installs. Let us know how this works for you.
