First steps with SC589 MINI Evaluation: communication fails

thanks for your answer! I will try the adjustment of the SPORT-Selections with your example later.

Indeed it seems like I do have another problem: After turning on the verification in SigmaStudio+, SigmaStudio tells me that the Target verification fails while downloading the compilation. It also seems like the SC589 Eval board doesn't even react when downloading the project to it. 

Is there anything that needs to be done to the Eval board before downloading the project to the SC589? Do you have any guides regarding that? Unfortunately I always only find guides for other ADSPs.

Unfortunately, still I don't have luck running SigmaStudio+ with the processor.

The communication via ICE1000 and CCES seems to run - at least I'm able to run the debug config successfully.

But still, if I open SigmaStudio+, there is no communication possible as every "Link Compile Download" results in 'Target execution could not be verified'.

Is there any need to prepare the module different?

After few hours of experimenting with different DXEs I finally managed to successfully write data from SS+ to the ADSP. (at least LED 10+11 are on after compiling in SigmaStudio). Unfortunately, my initial problem still persists: I'm unable to output any audio.

I'm using the line in and line out 3.5mm plugs and already double-checked the sport config (input dai0/pin2, output dai0/pin1), as predefined in the demo.

But no matter what I setup, there is no output at line out 1/2. Also, when inserting a single-band-level detector, it tells me permanent 0dB regardless of the actual input. Also, the status of all captured messages is "Skip", but the I2C-led on my USBi is still flashing when tuning values live.

For me this still sounds like a communication problem - either between USBi and ADSP or between ADSP and ADAU (ADC/DAC). Do you have any clue how to continue?

May I know which version of ADSP-SC589 Mini eval board you are using?

The steps are very simple to run the example on evaluation boards,

1. Make hardware setup as mentioned for ADSP-SC589 Mini - ADSP-SC589 MINI BOARD [Analog Devices Wiki]
2. Open corresponding target demo example in CCES for your case "SigmaStudioPlus-Rel2.2.0\Target\Examples\Demo\ADSP-SC58x\ADSP-SC589-SAM"
3. Build or use prebuild executable to run the debug session on CCES.
4. Once debug session running, open the example schematic what I have shared. 8875.Volume Control Example for ADSP-SC589Mini.ssprj
5. Select the DXE for each SHARC core in example schematic what you are running in CCES debug session and do link compile download.
6. once successful download you should be able to listen audio when connection input and speaker at I/O ports. Please check whether any mute set or volume control in in low level.

Note: Every time before downloading SigmaStudio schematic you need to rerun the CCES debug session, since redownload not supported by the framework and we are trying to address in future release.

I am using board rev. 2.1, USBi version 1.5.

I did the exact same steps, but no audio is outputted from line 1/2 (even when adding a signal generator to the output, there is nothing happening).

After running the debug-session and starting all cores, LED 10 on the board is on. After clicking "Link Compile Download" LED 11 is also lighting while LED12 remains off. Does that help in any way?

The LED status is correct. could you please confirm read MIPS is getting non zero value? If non zero value application is running fine. 

Where do I see the current MIPS? I don't know where to do it in SS+2.0.0, only in SigmaStudio v4.7.

Still, there's no output.

by the way: Your shared example unfortunately doesn't work as it tells me that license fails for SC-584 (seems like somewhere's something encoded about SC584). Instead I was using the example project from https://wiki.analog.com/resources/tools-software/sigmastudiov2/tutorials.
