ADZS-21489-EZLITE - Possibility to use Codec AD1939 (slave) for ADC + external streamer (master) for TDM8 input/output

Category: Hardware
Product Number: ADZS-21489-EZLITE

Hello,

I'm using ADZS-21489-EZLITE board.

For getting a stereo signal from the AD1939 (using the RCA connector provided by the EzLite board),

I want to use the following:

  • ASDATA1
  • ASDATA2
  • ABCLK (21489 is master)
  • ALRCLK (21489 is master)

In parallel, for getting a multichannel stream and outputting a multichannel stream, I would like to use:

TDM8 OUT;

  • DSDATA4
  • DSDATA3

TDM8 IN:

  • DSDATA2
  • DSDATA1
  • DBCLK (21489 is slave)
  • DLRCLK (21489 is slave)

The idea is to connect another codec on the "expansion II interface"

(after switching OFF SW2.1 -> SW2.6)

Can you please confirm:

1- that this configuration is realistic and feasible?

2- If yes, what could you propose for handling the fact that the TDM & ADSP-21489 doesn't share the same clock?

a. is it needed to use SRC on the ADSP side for the TDM stream?

b. Or can the TDM clock be used as a "master" clock for the ADSP-21489?

3- Do you see some tricky things to be handled here and any related recommendations?

Thanks in advance for the support,

Regards,
