Hi, you need other hardware to get 12-16 mic channels in. SAM has only an adau1761 populated. You may consider A2B based mics, A2B Audio Bus | Analog Devices for your application.

Thank you. Where would one find A2B based mics? none of the suppliers I'm aware of seem to carry any. Is there an alternative way to get a large number of analog signals in? If possible, I'd like to use an ADC to read the analog signals I already have, but I don't think there exists an ADC that can interface with A2B

ADI has MEMS-mic eval boards https://www.analog.com/en/design-center/evaluation-hardware-and-software/evaluation-boards-kits/EVAL-AD2428WC1BZ.html#eb-overview But you can not individually position/orientate those mics. 

A possible option is adau1979/1977. Both support up to 4 channels. In addition, 1977 provides up to 5v mic bias. Unfortunately, I could not find an eval board that has both 1977/1979 and A2B populated.

Another possible option is https://www.analog.com/en/design-center/evaluation-hardware-and-software/evaluation-boards-kits/EVAL-AD2428WB1BZ.html . you can feed two analog mic channel in and may use on-board MEMs mic at the same time. Then, you need to daisy-chain a few WBZ boards to get 12-16 channels in total.
