what's the difference between ITU-R BT.656 and UYVY422?
I have read the ITU-R BT.656 standard, and in ITU-R BT.656 fomat , there are some control words and UYVY422,
So, If I could understand that ITU-R BT.656 format is equal to UYVY422 format?
The data from CMOS camera sensor will be transformed to ITU-R BT.656 with TVP5150AM1, then they will be dealed with Video for Linux driver as a result of v4l.yuv. So, if there is some difference between ITU-R BT.656 and UYVY422, then we have to transform ITU-R BT.656 to UYVY422 in v4l driver, don't we ?

Matthew:
My understanding of the v4l framework is that the applicaiton asks the driver for a specific format (<code class="CONSTANT">VIDIOC_TRY_FMT</code> ioctl) If the driver can support it, it provides it.

It doesn't matter what the camera supports - it matters what the application wants.
