Is there any info on how to use LED trigger API's. So far I am not finding any documentation on this.

*which* API ?  do you want to write a LED driver or use an existing LED driver ?

the former is "look at linux/led.h and review existing LED drivers".  the latter is clearly laid out in linux-2.6.x/Documentation/leds-class.txt.
