Can we connect EI3 SDP Breakout Board and New DSP EZ-KITs ?

I would like to probe several singles of Processors on following evaluation board.

But there are not pin headers on each board.

ADSP-BF707 EZ-KIT Lite

ADSP-SC589 EZ-KIT Lite

ADSP-SC584 EZ-KIT Lite

Each board has Expansion Interface III (EI3).

Can we connect following board to probe singnals or connect other boards ?

For example,

On the EI3 SDP Breakout Board, there are two 120-pin connectors, J1 and J2.

On the ADSP-BF707 EZ-KIT Lite, there are two 120-pin connectors, P1B and P1C.

Can we connect both two connectors each other ?

( I cannot find the mounting positions of each connectors on the PCB ... )

    Hi,

    Apologies for our delayed response.

Yes you can connect the below boards:

    ADSP-BF707 EZ-KIT Lite

    ADSP-SC589 EZ-KIT Lite

    ADSP-SC584 EZ-KIT Lite

The System Demonstration Platform Breakout Board provides a means to monitor each of the SDP’s 120 pin connector’s signals individually. Each of the 120 signals on the connector interface is exposed on the breakout board using through hole probe points.

The SDP Breakout Board has a 120 pin receptacle connector for connecting to the SDP boards 120 pin header. It also has a 120 pin header connector to allow a daughter board designed for the SDP to be connected onto the Breakout Board. In this way the Breakout Board can simultaneously connect to an SDP and a daughter board allowing the user to monitor the signals travelling between the two boards.

The SDP breakout board contains 240 through-hole probe points, 2 × 120 pin receptacle connector and 2 × 120 pin header connectors. One of the 120-pin receptacle connectors (J1)can be used to connect to the 120-pin connector on the SDP controller board. One of the 120-pin header connectors (P1), on the back of the SDP board, can be used to connect to a daughterboard (P1).

Connector J2 and P2 are for use with future Blackfin EZ-Kit products.

For more details, please take a look into the chapter 'Through-hole probe points' in the below link:

  • Hi,

I apologize for the late reply.

Now I have found your answer.

I understand that we can use the the EI3 SDP Breakout Board for the ADSP-SC589/SC584 and the ADSP-BF707 ez-kit,

I will use the the EI3 SDP Breakout Board for debugging.

    Thanks for your support !
