ICE-1000 issues in CCES 2.12.01 with own ADSP-21469 board

Thread Summary

The user is experiencing a JTAG communication error when starting a debug session with an ADSP-21469 processor on a custom board using CCES 2.12.1 and an ICE1000 emulator, despite the JTAG scan test passing. The final answer suggests checking the JTAG design against the ADI application note (ee-68.pdf) and verifying the emulator cable and custom board schematics. The user confirms using the shipped emulator cable and is the first to work on this specific board.

Hi all:

We are new to SHARC processors and the associated dev tools. We have a self-designed board using an ADSP-21469 which also has a JTAG port. We are using CCES 2.12.1 ( the newer 3.0.2 doesn't support the ADSP-21469, apparently) and, as the JTAG interface, an ICE1000 emulator.

Now, when setting up a debug configuration and assigning a debug session using the ICE1000 I get the following:

  • The ICE1000 passes a JTAG scan test and finds the processor target.

  • When then starting a debug session I get a JTAG communication error:

Now, after having tried to get to understand the problem, I am now at a loss. Any ideas/ hints/ advice greatly appreciated ... Thanks a lot!
