ADSP-21569 EZ-kit RESET after power on

Dear ADI engineers,

In the morning, I use ADSP-21569 EZ-kit with SigmaStudio connected SPI, everything works fine. But after I replug SigmaStudio SPI connecter, the board's reset red LED is on, shown in the picture, and around the chip DP83867IR is extremly hot. Now due to the reset, I can't do anything with the ezkit. Thank you.

  • Hi Sprak,

From your response, we suspect that there could be some hardware issue in your setup.

Could you please answer the following questions, in order to accurately determine the cause for this issue:

    1. Please share us the screenshot results of ICE Test utility. ICE Test utility can be used to test for faulty JTAG connections, as well as testing your hardware configuration.

    2. If you have access to any other SOM/carrier board, could you please replace each other and check whether same heating issue occurred or not.

    3. Please refer "Jumper and Switch Settings" in the below system evaluation manuals and ensure the jumper and switch settings are set correctly in the EV-21569-SOM and EV-SOMCRR-EZKIT boards:
    www.analog.com/.../ev-21569-som-manual.pdf
    www.analog.com/.../ev-somcrr-ezkit-manual.pdf

    4. Please let us know whether you have purchased the board directly from Analog Devices or from distributor.

    Awaiting for your reply.

  • Hi Santhakumari,

Thank you sincerely for answering me. For your questions,

    1. ICE Test utility result as below.

    2. I put the ISSUE SOM board to a new carrier board, the RESET light doesn't on. And I put the new SOM board to the ISSUE CARRIER board, the reset and hot issue comes up. So I think the carrier board is the problem.

    3. For ISSUE SOM/carrier board when I put JP1 tu default possion, all the power is down and no issue happened.

    4. I got this board directly from Analog Devices for applications development.

    Thank you again for helping.

    Best Regards,
