  • Hello,

The 0x80048047 error indicates a problem starting up/communicating with the emulator. As you say, this is strange if the ICE Test completes successfully. If the problem is in communicating with the target, we would expect the ICE Test to pass up to the 3rd step, and fail on the fourth.

Please check that your emulator is installed properly by checking your computer’s ‘Device Manager'. You should find your emulator listed under 'ADI Development tools' or 'Crosscore tools'. If listed, double-click on your emulator to show the driver properties and ensure there are no issues listed. If there are please take a note of them along with the driver version number installed and send these details to us.

If your emulator is not listed or you are having problems with the drivers, you should try reinstalling the drivers. The driver file for the ICE-1000/2000 emulators is "adiusb50.inf" may be found in the 'Emu_Drivers' directory in the top directory of the VisualDSP++ installation. By default this is located at the following path:
    <install_dir>\Setup\Emu_Drivers

Please refer "Installing drivers manually" in Emulator and Evaluation Hardware Troubleshooting Guide:
    www.analog.com/.../EE-175.pdf

Please check whether you are able to connect the ICE-1000 via a USB port default to your PC if you are using a USB hub, can you try connecting the USB cable from the ICE-1000 directly to the PC. If you are connecting directly to a USB port then try connecting to a different USB port. If you saw the issue when using the USB 3.0 ports, please try the USB 2.0 ports to see if it will work for you.

Do you have any other emulators of the same type, which operates correctly with the same target board and PC?

Do you have any other emulators of the different type like ICE-2000, which operates correctly with the same target board and PC?

Do you have access to another PC? If you do, please let us know if the emulator detected correctly without any issues?

Do you have another target board you can use to connect to your emulator? Do the emulator still behave the same way? Do you still encounter the same error messages?

Connection problems can also be caused by a corrupt session. Please try recreating your session on VisualDSP++ start up by pressing and holding the 'CTRL' key on your keyboard. After a short while the 'Session List' window will appear. Select New Session.  In VisualDSP++ the 'Session Wizard' will open. Select the Processor Family, Processor, Connection Type and Platform. When recreating an existing session the session name will be appended with a number, as you can see in the 'Select Platform' screen. Remove this number and click finish. You will be prompted to replace your existing session. Select yes, then connect to this session by hitting 'Activate'.

Please let us know whether you are using custom board or Ez-kit lite. If you’re using a custom board can you please confirm that it complies with the JTAG Technical Reference Guide EE-68, which is available online at the following location:
    https://www.analog.com/ee68.

As the ICE Test passes, you may want to take a look at the FAQ we have here: FAQ:  Why does the ICE Test pass but IDDE cannot connect to target?
    ez.analog.com/.../faq-why-does-the-ice-test-pass-but-idde-cannot-connect-to-target

If you are still having problems can you tell me which version of VisualDSP++ you are using and which update, if any, you have installed? Also what operating system does your computer use?

  • Hello,

Could you please answer the questions that we sent in our previous response, so that it will help us to identify whether your device indeed faulty or not.

Please let us know whether you are using custom board or Ez-kit lite.  If you’re using a custom board can you please confirm that it complies with the JTAG Technical Reference Guide EE-68, which is available online at the following location:
    https://www.analog.com/ee68.

Do you have another (Ez-kit lite) target board to connect to your emulator? Do the emulator still behave the same way? Do you still encounter the same error messages?

Also, ensure that you have connect the ICE-1000 via a USB port default to your PC.

Unfortunately, we do not support any version of VisualDSP++ on windows 10. Also there are no plans to upgrade VisualDSP++ for windows 10.

Please note that Visual DSP 5.1.2 is supported on the following operating systems:

    • Windows XP Professional SP3 (32-bit only)
    • Windows Vista Business, Enterprise, or Ultimate SP2 (32-bit only)
    • Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise, or Ultimate (32 and 64-bit)
    • Windows 8 Pro or Enterprise (32 and 64-bit)

While we have had some customers report success using VisualDSP++ in Windows10 with the Windows "Compatibility Mode", this is not something we have tested nor that we support. We can only support customers using the above mentioned supported operating systems for VisualDSP++.

We recommend to refer the below FAQs, while installing VisualDSP++ 5.1.2 in window 10.
FAQ: Advantages of using 'Run as Administrator' on Windows 7 or 8 for VisualDSP++
    ez.analog.com/.../faq-advantages-of-using-run-as-administrator-on-windows-7-or-8-for-visualdsp

We hope that this gives you a usable environment, but must stress that this is neither tested or supported. If you continue to encounter issues, we would ask that you use a supported operating system.

If still you are facing issues, as the support we can offer may be limited here - Please contact private support through the link below:
