Problems obtaining output on the BF527 LCD for LCDColorBar example

Hi David sir,

I have problem with run the Touch screen ,LCD sir,the screen fully off state for I load the LCD color Bar.how to solve sir

  • Hi Ram,

I've branched the post about your problems with the LCDColorBar example into a new thread. Please continue all discussions about this example here.

There are 2 different possible output modes for the LCDColorBar example, RGB565 16BPP, or RGB888 24BPP. The default settings for the example are to display the output in RGB565 16BPP, so you must set up the EZ-Kit board accordingly. If you are still using the switch settings from the earlier thread, you will need to modify SW26 as this is set up for RGB888 24BPP.

To run the LCDColorBar example in default RGB565 16BPP you need to modify SW26 so that its OFF ON ON ON ON ON. Here's a list of all the switch settings for your board:

SW1 - OFF OFF ON OFF

SW4 - OFF ON OFF OFF

    SW5 - OFF ON

SW7 - ON ON ON ON

SW8 - OFF OFF ON OFF

SW9 - OFF OFF OFF ON

SW10 - OFF ON OFF OFF OFF OFF OFF OFF

SW11 - ON ON ON ON

SW13 - ON ON OFF OFF

SW19 - ON OFF ON OFF

SW20 - ON ON ON ON

    SW21 - OFF OFF

    SW22 - OFF OFF

SW24 - OFF OFF OFF OFF

SW25 - ON OFF OFF ON OFF OFF

SW26 - OFF ON ON ON ON ON

    SW27 - ON ON

    SW28 - OFF OFF

SW29 - ON ON ON ON ON ON

SW30 - ON ON OFF OFF ON ON

Note, you can change the output of the LCDColorBar example by uncommenting line 55 (#define LCD_OUTPUT_RGN888) of LCDColorBar.h. For more information please see the readme file associated with the example. If you decide to change the output of the LCDColorBar example to RGB888 you will need to change SW26 to OFF OFF ON ON ON ON.

    Regards,
    David.

  • Hi Ram,

To run the LCDColorBar example in default RGB565 16BPP mode, you need to modify SW26 so that its OFF ON ON ON ON ON, which is different to the setting you mention in your last reply. It looks like you've set SW26.1 and SW26.2 the wrong way round. To run the LCDColorBar in RGB565 16BPP output mode please make sure the switches are as follows:

SW1 - OFF OFF ON OFF

SW4 - OFF ON OFF OFF

    SW5 - OFF ON

SW7 - ON ON ON ON

SW8 - OFF OFF ON OFF

SW9 - OFF OFF OFF ON

SW10 - OFF ON OFF OFF OFF OFF OFF OFF

SW11 - ON ON ON ON

SW13 - ON ON OFF OFF

SW19 - ON OFF ON OFF

SW20 - ON ON ON ON

    SW21 - OFF OFF

    SW22 - OFF OFF

SW24 - OFF OFF OFF OFF

SW25 - ON OFF OFF ON OFF OFF

SW26 - OFF ON ON ON ON ON

    SW27 - ON ON

    SW28 - OFF OFF

SW29 - ON ON ON ON ON ON

SW30 - ON ON OFF OFF ON ON

Unfortunately there isn't a section in the readme for the LCDColorBar example that lists the switch settings applicable to rev 2.2 of the BF527 EZ-Kit board. Please use the switch settings listed here.

Let me know how you get on.

    Regards,
    David.

  • Hi David sir

  • Hi David sir ,

I follow your instruction on switch setting sir ,but i still encounter the problem .the LCD colorbar.dxe was running successfully But the Debug window want user request ( i attach the output window at picture format at your view) Is that anything i change please mention early as possible sir

  • Hi Ram,

I'm pleased to hear that the LCDColorBar example is now working for you without any problems.

Regarding the screenshot above, the Debug window is reporting Core 0 [Debug\LCDColorBar.dxe] (Running: User Request) as it's running at your request (you clicked run). It is not asking for you to do anything. There's nothing to worry about here.

    Regards,
    David.

  • Hi David sir,

I agree  your point ,for program was running  successfully, but the LCD display still off state. what i do sir.......i have get new response debug window if i doesn't press start button..sir i am in initial stage. Is their any simulation window for get output insead of harware device sir...Because our board LCD off state whatever we do..

  • Hi Ram,

Please make sure the ribbon cable for the LCD screen is not torn or damaged. We would recommend you gently lift the light coloured part of the ribbon connector (P18) and remove the ribbon cable. Now reseat the cable and close the light coloured latch on the connector. Does this make any difference to the behaviour you're seeing?

If not, i would recommend you contact private support, www.analog.com/supporthttp://www.analog.com/support. Please include a link to this forum thread, as well as the following information, when you contact us:

    • The serial number of your EZ-Kit board. The serial number is the six digit number on the back of the PCB
    • Confirmation that reseating the LCD ribbon cable has no effect on the behaviour you're seeing.
    • Confirmation that the LCD does not light up at all (appear white) and it's completely off.

    Regards,
    David.

  • Hi Ram,

I've asked our hardware team for the expected values at TP18 and TP19, we'll get back to you shortly with these.

The section of the EZ-Kit manual you reference above is for the Audio Interface, and therefore would have no bearing on your LCD Backlight problem. However, you're correct, this manual shouldn't reference SW23 as this switch has been removed in the latest rev of the EZ-Kit board. Please use the switch settings referenced earlier in this thread.

Attached to this post is a copy of the datasheet you requested.

In CCES you can connect to a BF527 Debug Configuration by following the procedure below:

Open the IDDE and select Run->Debug Configuration

Click 'Select Session' and choose the BF527 as your 'Processor Type'

Select 'Next' and then choose 'Simulator'

Click 'Next' and you will see 'ADSP-BF5xx Single Processor Simulator' listed under 'Platforms'.

    Choose Finish

Under 'Programs to Load' make sure you have the correct DXE selected ad then click Apply then Debug. You will now be connected to a BF527 Simulator Debug Configuration.

    Regards,
    David.

  • Hi David sir,

I already mentioned above LCD problem, you remember that sir,We are Run the LCD program again and check it,the program were Run correctly so we use the stamp light and saw the screen that is blurred so we think the backlight was problem and check  power level we found they derive TP18=0Volt(led-) and TP19=5V(led+) respectively. Is correct sir because we give the Input also 5V(i represented in attachment) otherwise how much volt in TP18&19
