resizing application window is difficult to impossible

Category: Software
Product Number: SS+
Software Version: 2.2 update 2

Windows 10 22H2, 4k monitor.

SS+ window can only be resized by grabbing in the corners, and it's very touchy as to where you have to position the cursor to get the grab handle (double arrow) to show.  See video.

This is not new behavior, just annoying me enough that I'm finally reporting it.

  • Hello Brewster.

Thanks. I have noticed the same thing. I will pass it on.

  • Hello Brewster,

I have just been informed that this will be fixed in the next release of SS+, Rev 2.3.0

I do not know when that will exactly be released but should not be far off.

    Thanks for reporting,

    Dave T

  • Hi Dave,

Is the block copy/paste bug (it brings up a settings tab) on the list?

What about left click MUST be a drag-select function (or if someone insists on the crazy reposition make it user assignable?

If they're not already on the list I'll open up tickets on those too.

    Thanks,

    Brewster

  • Hello Brewster,

I am closing out older posts and I see your added response on this one.

It is my understanding that they did make the change to change the left mouse to be the selection lasso instead of the drag and if you hold down CTRL then click it will drag which is perfect in my opinion as well.

It should have been included in the Rev 2.3 release that has come out since you posted this.

I am not sure about the block copy paste. If that is still a problem then start a new post.

I have given them feedback about the issue where you can drop and block or paste in a bunch of them if ANY tiny part of it is overlapping something on the screen it will not do it. I told them it should do it and let me sort it out if there is too much of a jumble or things overlap.

Thanks for your help on all this. We have been improving our internal organization to better communicate these issues.

  • Hi Dave,

yes there's a menu option now to fix the left click/drag select issue.

The last time I tried copy/paste (week ago?) it still has the odd behavior. I'll make sure I'm on the latest, retry, and open a new ticket if needed.

  • Hello Brewster.

OK, Thanks. I actually have a meeting in the morning where we discuss improvements.

  • you know what's HUGE on my wish list?   Why can't I select multiple of the same thing and change the settings on them all at the same time?  I have to select one at a time.  Though I'm mostly dealing with A2B related blocks so maybe the problem is those specific blocks and not SS+?

  • While I'm at it, some other things that I asked about in the past:

    • Control text in comment boxes.  Just the basics would be fine: font, size, style, color, alignment.
    • Control text of labels on blocks, hierarchy, and platforms
    • Allow assignment of an image for a hierarchy or platform block
    • Allow assignment of a background color for a hierarchy or platform block
    • Allow changing the name (the text inside the block)  of a custom platform block without having to create a new one
    • Provide a usable "light mode" and control over grid lines so diagrams can be printed and/or used in documentation
      • or allow full control and saving of them.
    • Be able to control the UID that is picked up in the XML/Code export so that they can be named to useful things in the code or when looking at I2C logs.  It's not unusual that they end up with number suffixes that are unrelated to anything helpful, i.e. the one on the 3rd channel is XXX_1, one on the first channel is XXX_2, etc.  And not being able to set XXX further adds to the confusion.
    • Ban the use of the word SHAPE from everywhere in the program.  I still have no idea what SHAPE is supposed to mean...Block?  Hierarchy Block?  Component? A lump of coal?
Seriously, stick to things only found in a DSP textbook :-)

I'm sure I had more but those come to mind...
