SigmaStudio software's register setup reference

Category: Software
Product Number: ADAU1466
Software Version: 4.7 and earlier

The SigmaStudio evaluation kit user manuals include some great tutorials for initial setup. By using examples, they cover a great many details on how to use the SigmaStudio software interface to set up the initial configuration, in order to program the proper connections to the chips. This is most certainly true for the setup of the particular collection of associated circuitry and components provided in that kit. These resources, of course along with the data sheet for each chip, are my starting point to figure out how to set things up on my own hardware. I also refer here to the Engineer Zone almost religiously.

Here's my question: Is there, online or published, a complete description of all the various configurations accessed by the different menu choices? In one case, for example, under "Hardware Configuration > IC1 - ADAU1466 Register controls," there are more than twenty main menu choices running along the top of the window. Clicking on each reveals a new window. Some of these windows are a bit inscrutable when figuring out just what I need to do (The routing matrix, in particular). But these user choices are in many cases critical to proper operation.

What I'd like to have is a reference for descriptions of what all these controls do in all the various sub-menus, what their purpose is, and what the expected consequences are for each choice. Something akin to the page/table form of the excellent online descriptions of the various DSP modules in the SigmaStudio toolbox, "SigmaStudio Basic DSP Algorithm Resource Summary" https://wiki.analog.com/resources/tools-software/sigmastudio/toolbox/basicdspresourcetable

I appreciate that this forum is an extremely useful way to get answers, instructions and suggestions for individual questions and problems. No complaints, there! But for faster access, I'd like to - as a first resort - be able to look to a single source rather than have to ask questions when they arise. Is there such a thing?

Thank you in advance. You guys, and your products, are amazing.

  • Hello David,

    Thanks for your request.

Reg the hardware registers, you can find the control register page in the datasheet which describes the controls of each register with a description. It almost gives you an idea.

There is not a complete tutorial for each register tab/page in sigma studio as of now. But you will find a few things here and there and there is this forum which will guide you for everything.

To easily find a register description, click the particular tab in sigma studio, you will find the particular register in the capture window, and search for the address in the datasheet. you can find a description. I have been using this method.

Feel free to ask your queries.

    Regards,

    Harish
