Can an I2S microphone be used for a microphone input instead of the PDM inputs? Are there any advantages / disadvantages?

In ADAU1467, PDM microphone inputs are automatically routed through decimation filters are and then available for use at the DSP core, the ASRCs, and the serial output ports. Please refer the PDM interface topic at the datasheet as well to know how to connect it with the processor.
