The ADSP-21371 in commercial temperature grade has two part numbers, one with suffix -2A and another with suffix -2B. What are the differences between the two parts?
On the ADSP-21371 there are no audio algorithms in ROM, just the coefficients. The -2B part of the ADSP-21371 contains no ROM and the -2A contains the audio decoder coefficients. The part with the -2A suffix (ROM coefficients) requires a license.
I checked the datasheet and i see that it only mentions the speed difference between the parts. So I got it confirmed from the product team responsible for ADSP-21371 and the difference stated between the two parts wrt ROM co-efficients is correct.
That is, ADSP-21371KSWZ-2A contains audio decoder co-efficients in ROM and needs licence. ADSP-21371KSWZ-2B denotes blank ROM. The future version of the datasheet will contain this information.
I am not sure that the answer above is correct. From what I see in the ordering guide of the data sheet (Rev. C), the difference between these part number suffixes is the speed grade. The -2A is rated at 200 MHz maximum and the -2B is rated at 266 MHz maximum. It is the parts with suffix -BSWZ-2B that contain the ROM coefficients according to foot note 3. This suffix also specifies a different temperature range (-40 to +85C).
