about the hardware design of adsp-21362

Now , i want use SPI master boot with M25P20 and use internal 3-M ROM keep my program. Can i do it as i said?

Because i use parallel write FIFO,so i don't use external SDRAM and FLASH. Or,can i use M25P20 boot adsp-21362 and keep my program?

  • Hi ,

You could have the code booted from SPI flash/EEPROM but you cannot get it booted to the internal ROM as the ROM is not programmable.   If you need code in the ROM it has to be programmed at the factory. Hope this answers your question if not please let me know.

  • Maybe,i don't understand the boot process from datasheet.I think i must boot adsp-21362 from spi flash(master mode),the boot kernel and my appliaction programe must be burned on the flash. Then the boot kernel boot adsp-21362 and load the application from the external flash. Is it right?

Now , i want to know what's the functions of the 3-Mbit ROM on adsp-21362.If i cannot keep my application on the ROM,How can i use the ROM when i design the hardware and run my application?

Yes this is right but you can only boot it to internal 3 Mbit SRAM and cannot boot it into 4Mbit ROM memory.

The 4-Mbit ROM is factory programmable. If you have an application that needs to be programmed into ROM you will need to send the program to the factory and get it programmed on the DSP chips you order. There is a minimum number of samples that you need to order to get this done. You will have to contact your local sales representive for the cost and number details.

    Hope this clarifies.
