UART and SPORT

Category: Datasheet/Specs
Product Number: ADSP21369

Hi

  • Digital applications interface that includes four precision
clock generators (PCG), a input data port (IDP) for serial
and parallel interconnect, an S/PDIF receiver/transmitter,
four asynchronous sample rate converters, eight serial
ports, a flexible signal routing unit (DAI SRU).
  • Digital peripheral interface that includes three timers, a 2-
wire interface, two UARTs, two serial peripheral interfaces
(SPI), 2 precision clock generators (PCG) and a flexible signal
    routing unit (DPI SRU).

This above bulleted point are extracted form ADSP21369 datasheet. by looking on to the pin details of ADSP21369 208Pins, I am not able to find 8 Sport,,4PCG,8Ch sample rate converter and input data port . Like a same way i am unbale to find  2UARTS, 3Timers, 12 flags ,instead i could find only 1UART, timer1 and 0.

Could some me help me to understand .

Regards

Ayan

  • Hi,

The digital application interface (DAI) and the digital peripheral interface (DPI) are comprised of a groups of peripherals and their respective signal routing units (SRU and SRU2). The inputs and outputs of the peripherals are not directly connected to external pins. Rather, the SRUs connect the peripherals to a set of pins and to each other, based on a set of configuration registers. This allows the peripherals to be interconnected to suit a wide variety of systems.

The DAI SRU provides the connection from the serial ports (8), the SRC module, the S/PDIF module, input data ports (2), and the precision clock generators (4), to the DAI_P20–1 pins.

The DPI SRU provides the connection from the timers (3), SPIs (2), UARTs (2), flags (12) TWI (1), and general-purpose I/O (9) to the DPI_P14–1 pins.

We recommend to refer Chapter 6 and " SRU Programming" topic under SPORT, UART, Timers chapters in the below linked HRM
    www.analog.com/.../ADSP-2137x_hwr_rev2.2.pdf

Also, we have examples for ADSP-21369 using VisualDSP++ in the below installation path:
    <Installation path>Analog Devices\VisualDSP 5.1.2\213xx\Examples\ADSP-21369 EZ-KIT Lite

Refer these examples, which uses DAI and DPI initialization for peripherals.
