hello all i was using BF536 DSP for my design but now i was planing to implement gigabit Ethernet on my project so i thought of shifting to sharc processor but implementing whole firmware is my problem in sharc (description will give you whole idea)

Gigabit Ethernet was not there in backfin so i have decided to change the processor so but firmware for the sharc may take many months to bring up that instead can i use the same code which i wrote for my sport ,UART,usb,SPI and TWI in blackfin or else do i need to change the whole code and by the way i thought using ADSP-SC58X series in my design pother than changing headers do i need change anything else please suggest me best possible to bring up my project in quick time

Hello,

Please note that Blackfin and SHARC processor are different families and it has different cores. The set of registers in both processor has different nomenclature and it is not possible to port the Blackfin code to SHARC directly.

Please refer Hardware Reference manual and Programming Reference manual for SHARC+ Core:

Thanks for the prompt response ....we have decided to use SC589 of SHARC for gigabit implementation but we have two more modem channels of BF561 which communicate with host (bf536) but we replaced that with sharc processor now is it possible to interface SHARC and BLACKFIN processor through sport because speed and timing variation were there in the both sharc and BLACKFIN will they communicate if code was written properly keeping in mind the speed and timings nieither SPI interface can i use for BLACKFIN and sharc communication or do we need change modems also to the shrac from BLACKFIN ..
