What are the GP Timer modes of operation supported by GP Timer instances TIMER10-TIMER15 in ADSP-2159x processor?
  • For the ADSP-2159x set of processors, GP Timer instances TIMER10-TIMER15 are not brought out to package pins. Due to which these Timer instances are limited by the modes in which they can be operated. These Timer instances cannot be operated in the modes which require external input (either from the TIMER_TMR or the TIMER_ACI pin). However, the TIMER14 and TIMER15 ACI pins are the destination signals in the DAI0 and DAI1 Group C respectively. Hence, an internal input signal can be driven to these two Timers using SRU routing to the TIMER_ACI pin.

    Below is the list of GP Timer modes that cannot be supported by the Timer instances TIMER10-TIMER13 and can be supported by Timer instances TIMER14 and TIMER15 using their ACI pin through internal routing,

    • Width Capture Mode
    • Windowed Watchdog Width Mode
    • Windowed Watchdog Period Mode
    • Pin Interrupt Mode
    • External Clock Mode.

    These Timer instances TIMER10-TIMER15 can operate in Single-Pulse PWMOUT Mode and Continuous PWMOUT Mode. But please note that the Timer output for these Timer instances when operating either in Single-Pulse or Continuous PWMOUT Mode is not available on package pins.

     Also, please note that these Timer instances TIMER10-TIMER15 can either run with a time base of SCLK0 or can reference an external clock on the TMR_ALT_CLK1 pin. The TMR_ALT_CLK0 pin is not available on the package and hence this pin cannot be used to provide a reference clock for these Timer instances.
